Cocktails in the Woods Kickoff Party A Rousing Success

Cocktails in the Woods Kickoff Party A Rousing Success

2 October 2011

Although Mother Nature decided to unleash a torrential rainfall hours before our 90th kick-off cocktail party, we still managed to have a successful night.

With Carrie Humphrey’s ability to acquire wine and beer from the Savory Grape for an excellent price, and Lisa Museler’s idea to use Amos House catering, our taste buds were treated well on the night of October 1st, 2011. Of course, we could not enjoy our beverages without Alissa Stuckey’s wine and beer glass purchases, and Meggan Schenefield’s thoughtful JLRI charms dangling from these glasses.

Throughout the night, people sauntered pass the silent auction items. With each glance, they noticed Les Miserables and Patriot tickets donated, a ski vacation, Photography Session, cooking lessons, and Private Dinner for Six. Along with these donations, there were many JLRI members that made generous contributions.

However, silent auction items were not the only means to reach our goals. JLRI Sustainers and friends, with their wisdom and knowledge, dedicated their time and energy to help us create an evening of beauty and enjoyment.  We raised $6,631.00 at this event, $2,400 from silent auction and over $2,000 in sustatiner and friends support.

As each candle was blown out, and the night’s events came to a conclusion, we were reminded that without Bitsy and Brandon Merriman’s lovely home, the party would not have occurred.  With their effort, the JLRI ladies dedication to our cause, and those who provided us with external support, the JLRI extends a thank you for helping us kick off our 90th Aniversary celebration.
