Please join us for our JLRI Annual Women Authors Luncheon on Saturday, April 27, 11:30 AM – 2 PM at the Brown Faculty Club, 1, Bannister St, Providence, RI 02912. We will enjoy a sumptuous buffet luncheon including Broiled Salmon, Chicken Marsala, Caesar Salad, Spring Pasta Primavera, Quiche, Fresh Fruit, Gourmet French Pastries, and Coffee/Tea.
Our Guest Authors are both Brown graduates. Emily Arnold McCully earned a Bachelor’s degree from Brown. She also earned a Masters degree from Columbia University. She received an Honorary Doctorate from Brown. Emily is an award-winning children’s book author and illustrator. She has won the Caldecott Medal twice and has published more than 30 children’s books, fiction and non-fiction! Her latest book is She Did It, a compendium of success stories of more than 20 women. Her next book features the historic Ida Tarbell.
Mary-Kim Arnold earned both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree from Brown. She also earned a Master’s degree from Vermont College of Fine Arts. Mary-Kim is a writer, poet and a visual artist. She was born in Seoul, Korea and adopted and raised in New York. Her book, Litany for the Long Moment, is an experimental essay. She has served as the Executive Director of the Women’s Fund of RI as well as the Chair of the RI Commission for the Humanities. Presently, she is a Visiting Lecturer in English at Brown.
A book-signing will follow the authors’ presentations.
