The Junior League of Greater New Haven has secured a unit in this low income housing complex to foster literacy and provide a supportive community for the children in the area. Weekly programming is provided and consists of a healthy snack, a craft, and then time to read or check out books from the library the League has built upstairs in our unit.  

JLGNH began this project in 2012 and have developed wonderful relationships with the children and a sense of trust with the parents, great work is being done, and JLRI members will leave feeling that they’ve really helped children and given a lot to this community simply by bringing a positive spirit and being supportive of the activities.

Expect about 25 children to attend. Will be having a yoga instruction, a balloon/magician professional, crafts that will be done with polaroids taken with the kids in costumes, and hearty but healthy snacks.

Volunteer at a great event, with our fellow league members in New Haven! Great for members close to the border, and carpooling would be a great way to get there!
