Junior League of Rhode Island, Inc. Hosts
3rd Annual Women Authors Luncheon
Proceeds to Support Youth Aging out of the
Foster Care System in Rhode Island

WHAT: Come to the Junior League of Rhode Island’s 3rd Annual Women Authors Luncheon and hear about two amazing books from local women authors.

Gail Gilkey, The Flame Flickers

This tale is the true-life novel of one woman’s circumstances, her struggles, loves, hopes, mistakes and ambitions as she was swept away and coursed through her era. Not only is this book a good story, but readers with an interest in the teaching profession, art, mental illness, New York State, and twentieth century history will find a lot of information on those topics between these pages. The spectrum of events is broad covering a time of unimaginable change. The older generation lived it. Middle-aged readers experienced snatches and heard accounts, but the younger generation doesn’t know what happened. This book is for them, to let them know about the lives of the people who have proceeded them, to fill them in on how we got from the old times to where we are today. Ms. Gilkey resides in Barrington, RI.

Hank Phillippi Ryan, Say No More
Ms. Ryan is an on-air investigative reporter for Boston’s WHDH-TV, winning 33 EMMYS and dozens more journalism honors. The bestselling author of nine mysterious, Ryan’s also an award winner in her second profession – five Agathas, two Anthonys, two Macavitys, the Daphne and Mary Higgins Clark Award. Her books are Library Journal’s Best of 2014, 2015, and 2016 and SAY NO MORE is an Agatha and Mary Higgins Clark Award nominee.

Lunch is $35 and can be purchased online by visiting www.jlri.org. Lunch includes roasted sliced turkey breast with gravy, penne pasta primavera, swedish meatballs, caesar salad, chicken salad finger sandwiches, egg salad finger sandwiches, mini carrot cake squares, mini cheesecake squares, mini eclairs, coffee, tea, and soda.

This is a great mother-daughter event and/or an opportunity to include a close friend or relative in a wonderful afternoon of great food, good conversation and an opportunity to interact with two great women authors. Following our luncheon and our author’s presentations, a book signing will be held. We know you will want to join us!
